Local residents and their dogs will take over the Rancho Simi Community Park on Saturday to raise money for Animal Rescue Volunteers at the third annual Wag N' Walk.
More than 300 participants and their dogs are expected to walk a 3-mile path that starts at the park at Royal Avenue and Erringer Road. The goal this year is to raise at least $30,000, which will be used to benefit homeless animals in the Greater Simi Valley area.
Animal Rescue Volunteers has rescued more than 5,000 dogs, cats and horses since 1994. It provides food, care and foster homes for the animals until they are adopted. Adoptions are held every Saturday at PetSmart in Simi Valley.
There will also be a dog costume contest and a dog adoption booth.
Participants can preregister at http://www.arvsimi.org. Check-in for the event is at 8 a.m., and the walk begins at 9 a.m.
