Blues Festival set to rock Simi Valley

The inaugural Write 4 Hope Blues Festival will blast into Simi Valley on Sat., April 29, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Oak Park, 901 Quimisa Drive in Simi Valley. All proceeds from the festival will go to Write 4 Hope, a nonprofit charitable organization providing support for the Simi Valley Samaritan Center and the Coalition to End Family Violence.

World class blues acts will include B.B. Chung King and the Buddaheads, Michael John and the Bottom Line, The Delgado Brothers, Nelson Adelard, Forced Call, The Jeff Jensen Band and the J.D. Casey Band. Mickey Jones, a character actor who has appeared in many films and television shows, including "Home Improvement," will be the celebrity host. Jones also played with The New Christy Minstrels and The First Edition with Kenny Rogers and was Bob Dylan's drummer in the 1966 tour.

The show will also be broadcast live on N2BN.org with DJ host Gary "The Wagman" Wagner who will share on stage host duties with Leo Shumaker, with a special guest appearance by Frank Kramer from the Frosty, Heidi and Frank show on 97.1 KLSX. Food and vendor booths will be open. No animals or ice chests will be allowed in the park.

Additional event parking will be available at Moorpark College, with shuttle service provided by Simi Valley Chrysler Dodge.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. Children under 2 are admitted free. Tickets may be ordered in advanced at the website below. For more information, call J.P.
