06 / 10 Knights of Columbus Chili Cook-off celebrates 20 years Start: 10:00 am End: 5:00 pm The Knights of Columbus, Simi Valley Council No. 5803 will present the 20th annual Chili Cook-off and Car Show from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 10 at St. Rose of Lima School, behind the church at 1305 Royal Ave., Simi Valley. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children ages 6 to 12, seniors and disabled. Chili taste tickets are 50 cents each. Overflow parking will be allowed at Royal High School across the street from the church. Chili cooking will start at noon; judging will be at 4 p.m. more info

"Ticket to Ride" is the name of the band that does a tribute to the Beatles. Peter Noone of Herman's Hermits was quoted as saying "it sounded like the real Beatles were playing". Bring your picnic baskets (or purchase food at the event) and blankets or chairs and enjoy this outdoor event. more info

06 / 18 YMCA to host Golf Classic at Wood Ranch Start: 1:00 pm End: 8:00 pm The 24th annual YMCA Golf Classic, sponsored by Dole Foods, will be held Mon., June 18 at the Wood Ranch Golf Club in Simi Valley. Proceeds go to the Southeast Ventura County YMCA. The tournament features a 1 p.m. shotgun start, tournament contests throughout the day, a silent and live auction, and a banquet and awards dinner. Hole-in-one prizes include a week in Hawaii, a Wilshire TV big screen television, a Dell computer and Bose sound system. more info
