History Day at Strathearn Park

Strathearn Park & Museum will hold its annual History Day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 16.

Two special performances will entertain all ages in the remodeled Visitor Center.

At noon, "Toys & Games From the 19th Century" will be demonstrated and discussed by Beth Miller from Dudley House Museum.

At 2 p.m., Simi Settlers Radio Club will give a presentation about the history and technology behind amateur radio broadcasting.

Additionally, club members will demonstrate live broadcasting throughout the day.

Aside from the special performances, many club groups and individual collectors will be exhibiting.

Model A and Model T Fords will be on display from Simi Valley Model A Club.

Vintage British Motorcycles also will be shown. Topa-Topa-Flywheelers and a newly formed Branch 183 of the national engine E.D.G.E.P.A. Club will display vintage tractors and engines.

Entry to the park is $5, which covers all performances, demonstrations and tours of historic buildings at the site. Proceeds support education and restoration efforts at the park.

Strathearn is just a few blocks from the Simi Valley Days carnival site. Turn west from Madera Road onto Strathearn Place (behind Kmart).
