Fred Stone is the best-known painter of horses in the world today, and he will be in Simi Valley next weekend raising money for the Humane Society of Ventura County and homeless pets.
Stone will be at Theresa's Country Feed & Pet Store, 1836 Erringer Road, Simi Valley, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 23 signing his most famous Sept. 11 poster, "Partners."

Stone is reportedly the most sought-after equine artist in the world. His work is in the homes of some of the world's most notable people, including Queen Elizabeth II, and in the office of President George W. Bush in the White House.

He has been featured on ESPN, ABC, NBC and CBS television. His work can be seen on his Web site, http://www.fredstone.com.

"Partners" is a moving depiction of a firefighter and his dog huddled amid the smoke and rubble of Sept. 11.

It has raised more than half a million dollars for animal rights activities, including the ASPCA, canine search and rescue, and the families of New York City firefighters who died on Sept. 11.

It now hangs in the White House, and Stone has received a letter of thanks from the president.

Theresa's Country Feed & Pet, Stone, and the Black Gold pet food company have teamed up to raise money for the Humane Society of Ventura County. With every purchase of Black Gold dog food, people can purchase the poster for $9.99 and Stone will sign every poster.

He will also sign posters without a Black Gold purchase for $30.

All profits from the one-day sale will go directly to the Humane Society, which will also be on-site with animals ready to be adopted.
