Series of fundraisers will benefit 1Life2Live

Local residents are working in partnership with Habitat for Humanity to raise $50,000 to build a home for a low-income family in Simi Valley in memory of Tyler Broberg, a Simi Valley resident who died last August at the age of 16.

The following fundraising events are scheduled for the "1Life2Live" fund, which has already raised more than $18,000 for the Habitat project.

•Royal High School has placed donation buckets in classrooms to collect loose change through March 20.

•Golden Spoon frozen yogurt in Simi Valley will give a percentage of proceeds from a fundraiser at the store on Thursday, March 20.

•Big Pat's Rock & Roll Diner will also donate a percentage of its proceeds on Monday, April 7.

•A car wash, bake sale and rummage sale is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 26 in the front parking lot at Royal High School, 1402 Royal Ave., Simi Valley.

Carwash tickets may be prepurchased for $5 by e-mailing Emilie Mateu at emilie@1life2live.org.

•"Tyler's Memorial Roller Coaster Hike" will be held Saturday, May 31 at the Wood Ranch trailhead on the corner of Wood Ranch Parkway and Long Canyon Road.
