Simi softball team qualifies for Nationals

With 34 victories to its credit and a winning percentage of .829, the Simi Valley Girls Softball U-10 Gold All-Star team will battle for the Western National Championship in Las Vegas from July 29 through August 3.

Habitat for Humanity development beginning to take shape

The intersection of Sequoia and Royal avenues has undergone quite a transformation since October. Where there once was a dirt-filled corner, the silhouettes of three modest homes now stand. The 1.5-acre site is the first Habitat for Humanity development in Simi Valley and for three local families, a symbol of progress and hope.

Pet adoption event this Sunday in Camarillo

The Ventura County Camarillo Animal Shelter in partnership with Rescue Me Inc. will hold their fourth annual "DogGone, CataStrophic Hugs, Slurps and Slobbers" event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Sunday, July 27 at the shelter, 600 Aviation Drive, Camarillo.

Museum raffling off classic airplane

The Aviation Museum of Santa Paula will raffle a 1947 Stinson Voyager to raise funds for the museum. Tickets are $100. The Voyager is valued at $25,000. The winner will be given the choice between the airplane and $20,000 cash.

The following were arrested July 17 and charged with possession of a controlled substance: A 24-year-old woman in the 5000 block of E. Los Angeles Avenue and a 37-year-old woman on the 2300 block of Kuehner Drive.
