LOS ANGELES -- The threat of wildfires will return to the Southland starting Friday as gusting offshore Santa Ana winds make a comeback, particularly in mountain areas and the Santa Clarita Valley.
The National Weather Service issued a red flag warning -- indicating a heightened risk of wildfire -- effective from noon Friday until 4 p.m. Sunday.
The warning was declared for Los Angeles County mountains, including Santa Monica Mountains Recreation Area; the Angeles National Forest; coastal areas, including downtown Los Angeles; the Santa Clarita and San Fernando valleys; as well as coastal, valley and mountain areas of Ventura County.
