Skatelab is sponsoring a book signing release party for "Stalefish: Skateboard Culture from the Rejects That Made It" from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 31 at Skatelab, 4226 Valley Fair St., Simi Valley.
The book is written by Sean Mortimer, with a foreword by skateboard professional Tony Hawk. Mortimer is also the author of "Hawk: Occupation Skateboarder" and "The Mutt: How to Skateboard and Not Kill Yourself."
Mortimer will be present for the book signing along with these contributors to the book: Tony Hawk, Rodney Mullen, Lance Mountain, Steve Olson, Dave Hackett, Kevin Harris and Jim Fitzpatrick.
The event will also include a silent auction with proceeds to benefit a medical fund for exBones Brigade skater Ray Underhill who is fighting brain cancer.
Attendees can bid on rare collectible skateboards/decks from Rodney Mullen, Tony Hawk, Lance Mountain and Mike Vallely.
